A boring post about Good in transit insurance

Transporting goods by road is called Road Haulage, there are many types from light haulage to heavy haulage. But one thing we all have in common is that we transport Goods for reward do need extra insurance called either Goods in transit or CMR.  To carry a load for reward you need this insurance and not having it is an offence.

Ensuring the transport provide you hire has the right insurance is your responsibility just like it theirs to have it.

Ask your transport provide to show you a copy of their insurance (GIT) (please note we will not email our and only show hard copies to prevent them been tampered with) with this in mind I would recommend seeing the original documents in a hard copy form.

Have they got sufficient cover on their git we have £25000 but can increase it at short notice for jobs as required (a fee may be required dependent on individual circumstance)

What are the perils of using an uninsured delivery company?

If your goods are damaged in transit it is the goods in transit insurance that cover those damages. So if you use an uninsured driver/company you have no recourse to get your stuff sorted.
As goods in transit is a legal requirement if the van/truck etc, is stopped by the police both the van and goods are impounded on an uninsured van
